FAQS
Frequently asked questions
What Is A Wax Melt?
A wax melt is a scented piece of wax, much like a candle but without a wick. You place the melt into the top of a tea light burner or electric melter, once melted it gives you a beautiful aroma.
How Do I use My Wax Melts ?
Simply place a small amount ( 1 or 2 chunks) of your chosen wax in the dish of your warmer and allow it to melt, filling your home with the beautiful fragrance. When you are ready to change your scent, simply turn on/light your burner for a few mins so that the wax starts to soften very slightly then you will be able to gently slide the wax out and replace it with a new scent.
How Long Does The Scent Last ?
Like with taste it is very individual, however at Melt Larder we always use the highest oil to wax ratio allowed to ensure strong and long lasting scents. 1 cube should give you between 15-20 hours of fragrance if not more.
What Wax Do You Use ?
We only use Natural Soy Wax in our products.
What Fragrances Do You Do ?
We offer a wide variety of scents including a selection of Designer Inspired scents that smell similar in style to popular perfume and aftershaves, our ranges of scents are ever changing in order to give you new scents to try on a regular basis but we do always try to keep your favourites available at all times and of course we have added seasonal collections too. Cant find what you are looking for then head to our socials or pop us an email to get your requests in, we do love a customer request!
WHY DOES MY WAX MELT LOOK DULL AND NOT SHINY?
This is call ‘frosting’ and is known to happen with natural waxes such as soy. It is when a white crystalline layer forms on the surface of the wax, this can vary from batch to batch which is why one of your melts may have some frosting and another is nice and shiny, rest assured it does not effect the performance or quality of your melts.
WHATS THE DIFFENENCE BETWEEN AN ELECTRIC BURNER AND A TEA LIGHT BURNER?
With a tea light burner the flame from the tea light candle underneath the well of your burner melts the wax, an electric burner uses the bulb to warm the wax. Both are great ways to achieve a wonderful aroma however which one you prefer using is completely down to personal preference. A tea light burner gets significantly hotter which can initially give you a stronger fragrance however the heat can burn the fragrance far faster meaning your scent will not last as long, an electric burner warms the wax and gives you a steady and longer lasting fragrance, it is also a safer alternative due to no naked flames. However we use a high oil to wax ratio when blending our melts so you will always get a strong and long lasting fragrance irrespective of your burner choice.
ARE YOUR MELTS VEGAN FRIENDLY AND CREULTY FREE?
Yes, we choose our suppliers carefully to ensure all ingredients are vegan friendly & cruelty free, we only use soy wax which is vegan friendly and one of the biggest alternatives to using harmful paraffin wax.
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS ECO FREINDLY?
We are far from perfect but understand this is very important. Soy wax is much better for the environment. Aside from the fact that it does not pollute the air when burning, it is also completely sustainable. There is no harm done to our planet as soy wax is plant based rather than extracted from oil. Once the soya has been harvested more can be grown again and again. Where possible we use eco friendly packaging such as our wax paper melt bags, we re-use and recycle boxes and packaging for orders where possible too. All of our sparkle in our melts is plastic free, biodegradable glitter derived from plant cellulose film from sustainably farmed trees (mainly Eucalyptus). With the planet in mind we are always looking for more ways to improve and are currently looking into a wax recycling project where you can drop in your used wax for us to send off to be re-cycled and made into new candles.
